A long and complex love story alternating views from present and past which just further added to my confusion. I wanted to like this book and in fact there were some parts of the story I did enjoy. Overall, I would not recommend this book as an audio read. That being said, the author provided the dialect which provided authenticity to the story. I'm thinking I might have enjoyed listening to this book if I had read it first. I usually enjoy long complex stories but I was underwhelmed by this one. I wanted to give it 2-1/2 stars because when I finished I felt I had to piece together the redeeming parts of the story.
