The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold

The Lovely Bones
By Alice Sebold

2010

Since I've had this on my Kindle I kept picking it up and putting it down. It's not something I would recommend since the story is pulls at the deepest part of your heart. A young life taken too soon tells her story from "heaven"

"The odd thing about Earth was what we saw when we looked down. Besides the initial view that you might suspect, the old ants- from - the - skyscraper phenomenon, there were souls leaving bodies..."

The beginning of the novel was touching and disturbing at the same time. Interesting narration of the main character from heaven. At some point near the end of the novel I began to bore of her "observations". It felt like the plot was falling apart and then suddenly pulled back together.

Overall, I enjoyed the book. Not as much as I thought I would when I started it. The ending was anticlimactic and abrupt given the complicated storyline.
