Self help, digital

I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from Callisto Media. My review is voluntary and unbiased.

I was interested in this book since having an accident I struggle with post concussion syndrome. I have been reading and using tools to challenge my memory. This book came at a unique time for me. Unfortunately, because it’s a digital copy which I am unable to print it has made it more challenging to use the activities.

The author explains how difficult it can be to live with memory loss regardless the etiology. The explanation of memory and the 6 Pillars of Brain Health as described by the Cleveland Clinic offers suggestions in overall brain health. These help balance the fact that a simple book will not be enough to foster your memory and mental functioning.

The book is organized in an organized manner beginning with simple tasks and then progressing to more challenging activities. Honestly, some seem real simple initially and it is interesting how it also includes numbers in addition to words. It did provide a challenge for me in some areas and not in others which I am sure is the purpose of the book. I don’t recall ever doing a “number search” or “number crossword” before which I found stimulated my brain as well as the Sudoku problems.

The book concludes with useful “engaging” activities. They range from healthy eating to mindfulness and gratitude practices. It just adds a more physical aspect to memory which can be just as beneficial. Again, these are arranged according to level of difficulty.
