Through alternating POV the story reveals how Hannah and Will were meant to be together when they met at University of Ohio but never wanted to risk their friendship by crossing that line. It's especially notable when after not communicated for 5 years they pick up almost like no time has past. Hannah's best friend Kate has a podcast were she talks about dating disasters and boyfriends. She has always wondered when the 2 friends would get together.
Hannah has a long term boyfriend, Brian, but has never been fully committed to the relationship. She is an editor for an alternative music magazine in New York. When Hannah and Will meet up again it's like no time has passed since college. Will comes from the wealthy Thorne family and works for the family business with his brother. Will is surprised to discover that his girlfriend has become engaged to his brother. When the two discuss their unique situations they decide that getting married would help both of them. They assure each other that it is for appearance sake and that they would maintain their friendship. Hannah needs to have knee surgery but does not have health insurance and Will would be able to secure his place in the family business by being married.
It's an amusing story about two best friends who get married out of convenience and try to keep their relationship platonic.
